Remote communities

For outback regions and the APY Lands.

KESAB works closely with key stakeholders
in remote communities

KESAB has extensive knowledge and experience delivering targeted waste management, water, litter and environmental education programs in outback regions and the APY Lands.

Water: Let’s be sustainable

In partnership with SA Water, KESAB has developed a curriculum resource (including a unit of work, activity sheets and Australian Curriculum links) which focuses on engaging students across the following topics:

1. Why do we need water?
2. Where does our water come from?
3. On the surface or under the ground
4. Water treatment
5. Which water do I use?
6. Using our water wisely

Our remote partnerships

KESAB continues to develop new partnerships with key stakeholders on the APY Lands including

Litter Reduction
and clean up

Remote Indigenous Communities and Schools (SA)

KESAB received funding from The National Packaging Covenant Industry Association for a targeted litter reduction and recycling initiative. The aim of the project is to implement a community and school program with a mix of education, infrastructure, signage and clean up days to reduce litter and increase recycling in targeted aboriginal communities in the APY Lands.

Outcomes will contribute to developing an ongoing litter management system and infrastructure plan with RASAC (local service provider) and community stores.

The artwork representing the APY Lands depicts the bush tomatoes and fruit that are in abundance throughout the APY Lands. Bush turkey tracks walk across the hot sand. Kangaroo and Emu come together at a desert waterhole to share fresh, cool and clean water.

KESAB’s programs have taught tens of thousands of South Australians how to reduce their waste and tread lightly on this earth.
